How to Make Overnight Oats
Whether you’re in a breakfast rut (cereal, AGAIN?) or someone who often skips breakfast (never enough time in the morning!), we’d like to introduce you to overnight oats. If you’ve never tried them, we came up with some reasons why you should most definitely incorporate overnight oats into your weekly menu.
- Overnight oats are the best breakfast to meal prep. You can make a few at a time, and they stay good in the fridge for up to three days.
- They are so simple and quick to make. (ten minutes, tops!) Before bed, throw in all the ingredients into a mason jar, give it a shake, and let sit in the fridge overnight. No cooking required; just grab and go.
- High-fiber and filling. Oats and chia seeds are rich in fiber, keeping you feeling full for longer.
- Customizable. While the base stays the same: oats, chia seeds, and milk, you can get creative when it comes to flavors. We have four ideas below!

Instructions
Place the oats, chia seeds, yogurt, milk, vanilla extract, and maple syrup to the mason jar. Secure lid and give the jar a good shake. Let sit in the fridge overnight to thicken up. When you’re ready to eat, give it a stir, add the blueberries, and enjoy straight from the jar!

Fruit on the Bottom Overnight Oats

What you need
- 16 oz. mason jar (wide mouth preferred)
- 1 cup frozen fruit of your choice, thawed (berries work well, but you can swap for your favorite)

- 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup rolled oats, also called old-fashioned oats

- 1/2 cup milk (or substitute it with your favorite plant-based milk)
Instructions
Place the frozen fruit in the mason jar and with a fork, smash until it resembles a puree. Then add the maple syrup, vanilla extract, oats, chia seeds, and milk. A couple of notes:
- If you find that the oats are a bit thick, thin with a little extra milk.
- While overnight oats are usually enjoyed cold straight from the mason jar, you can transfer them to another bowl and heat in the microwave for a couple of minutes.
